CITI reports 12.76% increase in December 2024

As per the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry’s (CITI) analysis of preliminary estimates, the Indian textile and apparel (T&A) industry closed 2024 on a high note, registering substantial growth across multiple time frames. Quick estimates reveal that the sector maintained a steady upward trajectory, driven by robust international demand and government support.

December 2024: Double-Digit Growth

In December 2024, textile exports increased by 12.76%, compared to the same period in 2023. Apparel exports also recorded an impressive growth of 12.89% during the month. Together, the cumulative exports of textiles and apparel in December 2024 grew by 12.82% over December 2023, reflecting the sector’s resilience and global competitiveness.

Calendar Year 2024: A Year of Growth

Throughout 2024, textile exports increased by 6%, while apparel exports grew by an impressive 8.4% compared to 2023. The cumulative exports of textiles and apparel for the entire year showed an overall growth of 7%, highlighting the sector’s consistent performance.

“Our increased exports show the sector’s resilience to global uncertainties and are attributed to timely and targeted policy interventions by the Government. Under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Textile Minister, Shri Giriraj Singh, the Indian T&A industry remains optimistic about its continued growth”, cited Shri Rakesh Mehra, Chairman, CITI.
