TEXTILCOLOR AG launches strategic collaboration with Alpex, Majocchi, and TransTextil in the field of Pyroshell flame protection

TEXTILCOLOR AG, a leading provider of innovative solutions in textile chemistry, today announces the start of a strategic collaboration with Alpex Protection, Majocchi, and Trans-Textil. Starting November 1, 2025, the partners will jointly advance the flame-retardant finishing of textiles using the patented Pyroshell technology at production sites in Germany, France, and Italy.

Pyroshell technology is a patented, permanent flame protection for polyamide and polyester fabrics and represents a milestone in the field of protective equipment for synthetic textiles. Pyroshell is revolutionising flame protection by significantly reducing the risk of burns. When a fabric equipped with Pyroshell is exposed to a flame, its textile structure expands substantially in volume. This effect keeps heat and fire-promoting gases largely away from the fabric. Therefore the time between the first sensation of pain from heat exposure and the onset of second-degree burns doubles. As a result, wearers gain valuable additional reaction time compared to conventional flame protection solutions.

The partnership with Alpex, Majocchi, and Trans-Textil enables the Pyroshell technology to be implemented even more efficiently within production processes and made accessible to a broader customer base. Alpex Protection (France) specializes in technical textiles and functional fabrics, Majocchi (Italy) manufactures high-quality textiles for the military, PPE, and luxury/fashion sectors, and Trans-Textil (Germany) produces innovative materials for safety and operational applications. The goal is to provide high-quality, safe, and comfortable functional and protective textiles throughout Europe.

“We are very excited about collaborating with our experienced partners in Germany, France, and Italy,” says Detlef Fischer, CEO of TEXTILCOLOR AG. “Together, we can leverage Pyroshell optimally within the production processes. The technology provides not only maximum protection but also exceptional comfort for users in demanding operational environments.”

CITI — Export Promotion Mission needs to be activated soon

The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) is hopeful that the Export Promotion Mission, about which an announcement was made in the Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26, will be established at the earliest.

“We will set up an Export Promotion Mission, with sectoral and ministerial targets, driven jointly by the Ministries of Commerce, MSME, and Finance. It will facilitate easy access to export credit, cross-border factoring support, and support to MSMEs to tackle non-tariff measures in overseas markets,” Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman had said in her Budget speech on February 1, 2025.

“Having the Export Promotion Mission in place, preferably by the end of the year, will act as a huge confidence-booster for India’s exporter fraternity in the wake of the continued uncertainty around the date by which the US tariff issue will be resolved and the potential opportunities opening through the FTAs already signed by India and those on the anvil,” CITI Chairman Shri Ashwin Chandran said.

“Such a move can also result in addressing the structural challenges which can help India raise its global share in world trade, including in the textile and apparel sector,” Shri Chandran added.

The US has imposed a 50% tariff on Indian goods, effective August 27. In July, India signed the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with the UK. India is also currently negotiating multiple FTAs, including with the European Union.

Last year, India was the 6th largest exporter of textile and apparel items worldwide. India has close to a 4% share of the global trade in textiles and apparel products. The bulk of India’s textile and apparel sector comprises micro, medium and small enterprises (MSMEs).

According to CITI’s analysis, in September 2025, Indian textile exports slid 10.45% over the previous year, while apparel exports declined 10.14% during the same period. Cumulative exports of textiles and apparel items during September 2025 declined 10.34% over September 2024.

Intertextile Apparel unveils show dates and key themes for Spring Edition

With each passing year, innovation in the fashion supply chain grows more advanced, and China continually positions itself at the forefront. Against this backdrop, Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition 2026 will open the spring sourcing season from 11 – 13 March 2026, with a renewed focus on being fashion forward, while embracing sustainable, performance, and future textiles. As global industry players try to overcome market challenges and embrace innovation, the fair’s organisers were eager to reiterate that the upcoming fair would be the ideal platform to do just that.

“Intertextile Apparel has proved time and again to be unmissable, and our fairgoers regularly echo that sentiment,” said Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “As the industry undergoes a period of change, the fair’s breadth, scale, business connections and focus on ‘what’s next’ are more important than ever. The upcoming Spring Edition will leverage our renewed focus and carry forward the positive momentum of our 2025 shows, where we witnessed solid results in key exhibitor and buyer categories. With fashion as a cornerstone of the fair, we will continue to place a greater emphasis on AI and innovation, while growing our sustainable and performance-related offerings.”

Fashion, performance, sustainability and innovation combine to good effect at flagship fair

The show’s willingness to align with international and domestic market trends has been paying dividends. In China, the textile industry’s emissions intensity decreased by 60% from 2005 – 2022, and by a further 14% from 2022 – 2024. Reflecting exhibitors’ eagerness to attract eco-conscious buyers from China and beyond, Intertextile Apparel’s dedicated zone for sustainability, Econogy Hub, increased in scale by over 60% between the 2024 and 2025 Autumn Editions. At the upcoming Spring Edition, the zone will feature an open booth design as well as dedicated seminar and display areas. In addition, it is set to welcome a range of innovative textile suppliers and testing and certification institutions. Econogy Hub will be supplemented by the Econogy Finder, a convenient means for visitors to locate sustainable suppliers across the fairground.

Industry innovation tends to be directed towards sustainable endeavours, and the AI trend is no exception – as it is already reshaping the supply chain in meaningful ways, such as reducing wastage in production, allowing for earlier detection of defects, and optimising stock levels to prevent surplus. At the enhanced Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone and its complementary seminar series, exhibitors at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition 2026 will showcase a range of AI-related and cutting-edge technologies with textile applications. The zone’s previous exhibitors included the likes of AiDLab, HKRITA, and Shima Seiki, who were enthused with its favourable position and ability to connect them with new, relevant buyers.

Many suppliers are making significant efforts to attract the next generation of customers. Generation Z is more interconnected than previous consumers, and as such, Chinese-style clothing trends have transcended the domestic fashion scene to reach international markets[3]. Next spring, this could potentially lead to interesting business opportunities for fashion-forward exhibitors at Accessories Vision, Beyond Denim, Essential Suits & Shirts, Premium Wool Zone, SalonEurope, and Verve for Design. Meanwhile, suppliers at Functional Lab will be eager to take advantage of the developing athleisure trend, which has evolved towards more utilitarian, functional styles and outfits[4].

Positive feedback from 2025 lends strong momentum to upcoming edition

Fairgoers in 2025 agreed the global market is undergoing a period of change, with resilience, versatility, and a willingness to explore new distribution channels the key attributes needed to navigate the current climate. Buyers at the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum, and at display zones Bespoke Performance, The CUBE, and Econogy Hub Display Area, indicated their preference for fabrics for ladieswear, functional and sportswear, as well as knitted, eco-friendly and natural fabrics. All four areas will return to give added visibility to exhibitors next spring.

Exhibiting at the recent Spring Edition, Ms Karen Yang, Global Marketing Communication Leader, Textile, Eastman Chemical (China) Co Ltd, said: “Every year we bring new concepts, innovations, and technologies to Intertextile Apparel. For the Chinese market, it is very important for us to develop something new, and to introduce the newest in technology and innovation. The buyers at Intertextile Apparel are excellent – they are forward-thinking and eager to try new things, and highly innovative. Their fabric development skills and technologies are also ideal. That’s why we choose this platform to debut our latest innovations and fabrics, and this year we were very happy to launch Naia™ On The Move at Intertextile Apparel.”

A buyer at the same edition, Ms Eileen Tay, Creative Director from Elizabeth Little LLP in Singapore, said: “As opposed to Europe, it’s a lot nearer to fly to Shanghai from Singapore, and many leading European and Japanese suppliers come here. China is the biggest hub, and Intertextile Apparel really serves all the purposes I have. All the exhibitors have warehouses in China, so it’s also very easy for our manufacturers to get the stock. I feel we have more buying power compared to last year due to tariffs. I also really like Verve for Design, there are more exhibitors this time which is helpful for my prints.”

The fair is co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd; the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT; and the China Textile Information Centre. It will take place alongside Yarn Expo Spring, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Spring Edition, CHIC and PH Value at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
