ERCA S.p.A., a leading innovator in chemical solutions and exclusive manufacturer of REVECOL, proudly announced its successful transition to ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification). This milestone reinforces ERCA’s dedication to advancing the bioeconomy, circular economy, and certified innovation for the textile chemical sector.

REVECOL is owned by ERCA Textile Chemical Solutions (ERCA TCS), an independent entity within the ERCA group that specializes in high-performance textile chemicals. The decision to adopt ISCC PLUS was driven by evolving industry discussions, including the Textile Exchange’s potential shift to certifying only fiber content — a move that does not fully reflect ERCA TCS’s holistic sustainability approach.

ISCC PLUS certification ensures traceability and transparency of bio-based, bio-circular, and recycled feedstocks across the supply chain. This certification journey began at ERCA S.p.A.’s production site, where REVECOL products are manufactured.

Significantly, ERCA is now the first and only company globally to certify under ISCC PLUS the output category:
“Auxiliaries for the textile industry – Vegetable Oil Ethoxylates, Alkylamide–Bio Circular.”
These products are made from upcycled vegetable cooking oil (UCO) using a mass balance approach, marking a breakthrough in green chemistry and advancing the textile industry toward sustainable transformation.

Why ISCC PLUS Matters

ISCC PLUS delivers:

  • Third-party independent verification

  • Mass balance approach for bio-circular and recycled materials

  • Alignment with UN SDGs, strengthening ESG commitments

  • Transparency and credibility for customers and stakeholders

Through this step, ERCA aims to:

  • Lower its carbon footprint

  • Enhance supply chain traceability

  • Boost ESG positioning

  • Help customers meet sustainability goals

About REVECOL by ERCA TCS

REVECOL is a 100% Made in Italy innovation that converts waste — specifically exhausted vegetable cooking oil — into a safe, high-performing range of textile chemical auxiliaries. The portfolio includes 20 next-generation products, all certified by ISCC PLUS, ZDHC Chemical Gateway, bluesign, and GOTS.

In collaboration with bluesign Academy, ERCA TCS is working on calculating the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of several REVECOL products. Initial results show CO₂ reductions of 30% to 72% compared to conventional chemistry, proving its role as a game-changer for sustainable textile production.

By achieving ISCC PLUS certification, ERCA S.p.A. and ERCA TCS have reinforced their pioneering position in certified bio-circular chemistry and set a new benchmark for the industry.
